Cornell Police seek public comment for accreditation review

A team of assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will be on campus April 1-4 to examine Cornell University Police’s policies, procedures, operations, support services and management.

The Cornell community is invited to offer comments by calling 607-254-6040 on April 3 between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m. Comments will be taken by the assessment team. Written comments can be submitted to IACLEA Accreditation, 342 N. Main St., West Hartford, CT 06117-2507.

Comments must address the department’s ability to comply with IACLEA’s standards, available on the IACLEA website.

The assessment team comprises experienced campus law enforcement professionals from across the country. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals and inspect facilities where compliance can be witnessed. Once the assessors complete their review of the department, they will report back to IACLEA, which will then decide if the department is to be granted accredited status.

Accreditation is for four years, during which the department must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
