Kathryn Pisco ’05, founder and CEO of Unearth the World, a social enterprise that promotes service-learning by pairing volunteers with international nonprofits, will present “Unearth the World: Creating Responsible and Reciprocal Partnerships” Oct. 2 at noon in 226 Weill Hall. Pisco will talk about what she has learned during recent and ongoing global service-learning experiences.

After years of working in sales for large corporations, she took a career break with her husband, Mike Pisco ’06, and traveled the world doing a mix of personal travel and volunteer work. She returned from the trip inspired to create her own social venture that focuses on global service-learning and responsibly pairing volunteers with international nonprofits.

Pisco’s presentation will encourage discussion about best practices in community engagement and discuss how Unearth the World works to foster responsible and reciprocal community partnerships.

Sponsored by Engaged Learning + Research, the Public Service Center and the Office of Academic Diversity Initiatives, Cornell Abroad, the Center for Transformative Action and the Program in International Nutrition. It is open to the public, and a light lunch will be provided. RSVP to elr-cornell@cornell.edu.
